Officials have revealed that due to the increasing trend of solarization, daytime electricity demand has dropped by as much as 6,000 megawatts.
During a briefing to National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA), the National Power Control Center (NPCC) officials stated that at times, daytime demand falls to around 15,000 MW, while it rises to over 21,000 MW at night.
Officials explained that higher solar usage during the day reduces the need for grid electricity, but demand surges significantly after sunset. This creates operational challenges because power plants cannot be quickly shut down or restarted within short time intervals.
