Islamabad, Sep 23: The Foreign Office announced that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will attend the 79th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) from September 23 to 27.
Pakistan Set to Raise Palestine, Kashmir and Islamophobia issues at UNGA During his address on September 27, he plans to highlight key issues, including Palestine, Islamophobia, and the long-standing concerns on the UN Security Council’s agenda, particularly focusing on Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and Palestine.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is set to represent Pakistan at the 79th UN General Assembly in New York, emphasizing Pakistan’s perspective on global issues. In a post on X, he expressed anticipation for a week filled with engagements.
Notably, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar was scheduled to attend but canceled his trip shortly before the PM’s departure.
This decision, made during a Foreign Office meeting, was influenced by important diplomatic engagements related to the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
During the UNGA, PM Shehbaz aims to reaffirm Pakistan’s commitment to multilateralism and the UN’s role in promoting peace and security.
He will advocate for reforms in international economic relations, emphasize people-centered development, and address climate change and Islamophobia.
His schedule includes high-level meetings on pressing global issues and bilateral discussions with various world leaders, including the UN Secretary-General and UNGA President.
