Islamabad, Sep8: From September 1 to 8, 2024, Alexandria, Egypt hosted the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) 2024. Pakistan sent a team to this renowned international competition for the first time.
Teams from 96 different countries competed, displaying their skills in computer science and programming, according to the Education Ministry. “We are pleased to announce that the four-student Pakistani team placed first in their inaugural competition and won two bronze medals.”
It was Mr. Kaleem Raza Syed and Mr. Muhammad Umair Ahmad Mirza who brought this honor to Pakistan. In addition, Mr. Muhammad Saram’s exceptional performance earned him an Honorable Mention. For a nation taking part in this kind of elite worldwide programming competition for the first time, this astounding triumph is a noteworthy accomplishment.
Pakistan finished 45th out of the 96 participating countries, which is a good result considering this was the team’s first time taking part in the IOI. “We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all the students for their dedication and success in this competition,” the Ministry officials stated.They continued, “We are optimistic that this accomplishment is just the start of even bigger victories for Pakistan in upcoming international competitions.”
