Federal Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi has announced that the Islamabad–Tehran–Istanbul train service will be resumed on December 31. He added that a new 400-kilometer track is being laid for the Reko Diq project.

Addressing a press conference at the Lahore Railway Headquarters, Abbasi said that the government is committed to providing maximum facilities to railway passengers. He noted that efforts are underway to further improve the cleanliness system at railway stations and to modernize the railway network.

The minister also revealed that cafeteria and internet facilities are being introduced at stations for passengers’ convenience.

Hanif Abbasi stated that the total existing railway track length stands at 884 kilometers, while negotiations are ongoing with the Asian Development Bank and the World Bank for a $2 billion agreement to upgrade the Rohri–Karachi track.
