Islamabad, 27 May 2025: Tighten Solar Panel Installation this is the key message delivered by the Punjab Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) in the aftermath of deadly wind and rainstorms that swept across Punjab and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa over the weekend.

The PDMA has requested the government to implement strict regulations on solar panel installations, following reports that at least 19 people lost their lives and more than 90 sustained injuries.

Officials indicated that nearly 70% of these fatalities resulted from the collapse of unstable solar setups.

In formal communications sent to the Energy and Local Government Departments, as well as senior district officers, PDMA Director General Irfan Ali Kathia highlighted the immediate need for standards to ensure public safety.

According to the authority, Tighten Solar Panel Installation is essential to prevent future tragedies linked to non-engineered or uncertified structures.

The PDMA insisted that all rooftop or open-area solar units must be built using approved equipment and follow professional engineering practices capable of withstanding severe weather.

The authority also urged regular inspections, urgent risk assessments, and stronger approval processes.

A PDMA spokesperson noted that Tighten Solar Panel Installation is not only crucial to saving lives but also vital for protecting public infrastructure and ensuring the long-term sustainability of solar energy in the province.
