Pakistan is gearing up to introduce its first-ever national esports policy and establish a dedicated federation to strengthen the country’s rapidly expanding gaming sector.

The initiative seeks to create a structured framework for esports players, developers, and innovators within a growing community of around 60 million gaming enthusiasts across the country.

According to a press release, Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Youth Program, Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan, said the move reflects the government’s commitment to empowering young people through emerging digital industries.

He noted that esports — a multibillion-dollar global industry involving organized, competitive video gaming — offers opportunities for players and teams to gain recognition, sponsorships, and prize money at the international level.

Khan emphasized that the government, under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, is taking “concrete steps to create opportunities for youth,” adding that esports will play a pivotal role in Pakistan’s digital growth and innovation strategy.
