Pakistan achieved a new monthly milestone as tobacco exports reached $34 million in September 2025, according to the latest figures released by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP). This marks the highest-ever monthly export for the tobacco sector in the country’s history.
As per provisional data, tobacco exports have shown steady growth despite tighter monitoring from the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR). During the first quarter of the fiscal year 2025–26, total exports stood at $74 million, showing an 8 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
In July 2025, the FBR introduced new regulations to control the removal of processed tobacco from Tobacco Green Leaf Threshing (GLT) Units or warehouses, aiming to improve tax compliance and monitoring. However, the recent record numbers suggest that Pakistan’s tobacco industry continues to perform well in the export market.
