Islamabad, Nov 12; Pakistan leads the list for the highest Schengen visa rejections in Spain, according to recent statistics from Schengen Visa Info.
In 2023, 52.84% of Pakistani visa applications were refused, the highest rejection rate among all nationalities.
Nigeria ranked second with 49.85%, while applicants from Gabon, Guinea-Bissau, and Ghana also saw high rejection rates, ranging from 43.4% to 48.21%.
Pakistan experienced 9,766 visa denials, showing a clear imbalance in approval rates.
This data reveals that applicants from Pakistan and similar regions are disproportionately impacted by high rejection rates in Spain.
Spain remains a top destination within the Schengen zone, with 1.4 million visa applications in 2023, representing 13.6% of all Schengen applications.
The country issued over one million visas last year, with a 77.4% approval rate, below the Schengen average of 82.2%.
However, some nationalities experienced much higher approval chances. Jamaicans had a 98.4% approval rate, followed by Indonesians at 96.1% and Thais at over 95%. Saudi and Filipino applicants also had high approval rates of 94.32% and 93.91%, respectively.
On the other hand, applicants from African and South Asian countries faced significant obstacles in obtaining Spanish visas.
