Islamabad, July 6, 2025: Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have decided to enhance their strategic regional cooperation in the areas of higher education and workforce training, according to a statement from the Pakistan embassy on Saturday.

This announcement followed a meeting between Pakistan’s Ambassador Faisal Niaz Tirmizi and Dr. Abdulrahman bin Abdulmanan Al-Awar, the UAE’s minister for human resources, higher education, and scientific research.

The UAE hosts over 1.5 million Pakistanis who work and live there, sending back more than $5 billion in remittances to Pakistan every year.

During the discussion, Ambassador Tirmizi praised the role of Pakistani nationals in the progress of the UAE and thanked the Gulf nation for creating a supportive and friendly environment for foreign workers.

“Both sides reviewed ongoing collaboration and explored avenues to further enhance bilateral cooperation in the fields of higher education and human resource development,” the embassy stated.

“The discussions reflected a shared resolve to work closely on initiatives that benefit students, academic institutions, and professionals from both countries.”

Ambassador Tirmizi also repeated Pakistan’s strong intention to deepen connections between educational institutions and to promote cooperation in training and preparing skilled workers.

“Minister Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Awar lauded the longstanding and brotherly relations between the two countries and expressed the UAE’s keen interest in expanding its partnership with Pakistan in mutually beneficial areas,” the embassy added.

“He welcomed sustained dialogue and coordination between the relevant authorities of both nations.”
