Deputy Prime Minister of Pakistan Ishaq Dar met with the US Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Washington, DC, marking their first direct meeting following prior telephone calls.
The two leaders discussed a broad range of agenda, including expanding economic and trade relations, advancing investment prospects, and boosting cooperation in sectors such as agriculture, technology, and mineral exploitation.
The Pakistan and US representatives also agreed on joint strategies to combat terrorism and improve regional peace and security.

The Pakistani Foreign Minister acknowledged the role played by the US President Donald Trump in defusing recent hostilities in South Asia. He praised the ‘constructive effect’ of American diplomacy in resolving global conflicts.
Meanwhile, The US State Secretary praised Pakistan’s sacrifices in the global fight against terrorism and talked about the latter’s ongoing contributions to stability on the regional and international fronts.
Dar wished for a deeper engagement with the US, highlighting Pakistan’s potential for US businesses and investors. He noted that the Pakistani diaspora in the US served as an important conduit for a stronger cultural and economic integration between the two states.

The meeting also included senior officials from both delegation, among them Pakistan’s Ambassador to Washington, Rizwan Saeed Sheikh.
By the conclusion of the talks, the US and Pakistan committed to expanding cooperative efforts across key areas, including trade.
