Islamabad, July 1, 2025: Pakistan’s T20 vice-captain, Shadab Khan, has been ruled out for at least three months due to a serious shoulder injury, dealing a major setback to the national cricket team ahead of the Bangladesh series.
As reported by Sohail Imran, the star all-rounder has been suffering from persistent pain in his right shoulder. Following medical evaluations, doctors have recommended immediate surgery. Shadab is expected to travel to the UK for the operation and will begin rehabilitation soon after.
His absence comes at a crucial time, with Pakistan set to face Bangladesh in a three-match T20I series starting July 20. Key players such as Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Afridi are also likely to skip the series, leaving Pakistan’s lineup heavily depleted.
To fill the gap, sources suggest that left-arm spinner Sufiyan Muqeem may be recalled to the squad. The official team announcement is expected later this week, with the training camp scheduled to begin on July 7 at Karachi’s National Bank Stadium.
The Green Shirts will arrive in Dhaka on July 16, with matches slated for July 20, 22, and 24 at the Shere-e-Bangla National Stadium. Although Pakistan dominated Bangladesh with a 3-0 home sweep in May, the current injury crisis will test the team’s bench strength.
Shadab Khan’s primary focus will now shift to recovery. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is hopeful he will return in time for the Asia Cup in September and the ICC T20 World Cup in 2026.
