Islamabad, July 28, 2025: In a major diplomatic development, the visa waiver agreement between Pakistan and the UAE for official and diplomatic passport holders has officially come into force from July 25, 2025.
This milestone is the result of an MoU signed on June 24 between Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
According to official updates shared by Ishaq Dar on X (formerly Twitter), the agreement is now fully implemented at all international airports in both countries. This means that Pakistani government officials and diplomats can now travel to the UAE without a visa, and UAE officials will enjoy the same privilege when entering Pakistan.
The visa exemption was a mutual decision finalized during a high-level meeting in Abu Dhabi, where both foreign ministers agreed to activate the policy 30 days after signing the MoU. The UAE government has since formally communicated the operational status of the agreement.
This visa waiver is part of a broader framework to strengthen strategic ties between Pakistan and the UAE. During the same diplomatic mission, two additional MoUs were signed—one focused on artificial intelligence and digital economy cooperation, and another to encourage joint investment projects.
