The Pakistani rupee (PKR) showed bearish trends against the US Dollar today, commencing trading at 278 in the interbank market.
Although it remained relatively stable throughout the day, it concluded on a downward trajectory against the greenback and experienced declines against other prominent currencies during today’s trading session.
Maintaining a consistent interbank rate of 278/$ for the majority of the day, it ultimately closed at the same level. Across various currency counters in the open market, rates stood firm at 278 throughout the day.
The PKR depreciated by 0.03 percent, ending at 278.26 after losing eight paisas against the dollar today. On a fiscal year-to-date basis, the rupee has witnessed an appreciation of 2.77 percent.
However, the overall performance of the rupee reflects a decline of nearly Rs. 51.06 since January 2023 and a significant drop of Rs. 95.06 against the greenback since April 2022. Today’s session saw a loss of eight paisas for the PKR, based on exchange rate fluctuations.
In interbank trading, the PKR displayed losses against other major currencies today. It shed two paisas against the Saudi Riyal (SAR), two paisas against the UAE Dirham (AED), and 74 paisas against the Canadian Dollar (CAD). Furthermore, it experienced declines of Rs. 1.16 against the Australian Dollar (AUD), Rs. 1.31 against the Euro (EUR), and Rs. 1.89 against the British Pound (GBP) in today’s interbank currency market.
