Pakistan secured the Tri-Series 2025 trophy in Sharjah with a remarkable 75-run victory over Afghanistan, driven by a record-breaking spell from left-arm spinner Mohammad Nawaz. Defending a modest total of 141/8, Pakistan bowled out Afghanistan for just 66 runs in 15.5 overs.

The highlight of the match was Nawaz historic T20I hat-trick which made him the third Pakistani to achieve the feat after Mohammad Hasnain and Faheem Ashraf. He also became the first Pakistan spinner to register a T20I hat-trick.

Nawaz struck at the end of the powerplay when he trapped Darwish Rasooli lbw for a five-ball duck. On the very next ball, he dismissed Azmatullah Omarzai, caught behind by Mohammad Haris. Completing the hat-trick in the opening delivery of the seventh over, Nawaz removed Ibrahim Zadran brilliantly stumped by Haris.

He finished with exceptional figures of 5/19 from four overs including a maiden, guiding Pakistan to one of their most dominant wins in recent T20I history.

In addition, Pakistan spinners created history by claiming nine wickets in a T20I innings for the first time. Mohammad Nawaz led the charge with five wickets while Abrar Ahmed and Sufiyan Muqeem picked up two each. This marks the first occasion in senor men’s T20I history where spinners have dominated an innings so completely.

This victory boosted Pakistan confidence ahead of the upcoming Asia Cup 2025, where they will face India on September 14 in Dubai — a fixture already generating huge anticipation.
