Islamabad, July 22, 2025: In a striking development, Pakistanis have now become the top nationality seeking asylum in the United Kingdom. According to official UK Home Office data for the year ending March 2025, Pakistan topped the asylum chart with a total of 11,048 applications, surpassing every other nation.

This sharp rise reflects a growing trend where political instability, economic uncertainty, and social challenges are pushing more Pakistani citizens to look for protection abroad. The figures place Pakistan ahead of countries facing long-term conflict like Afghanistan (8,069), Iran (7,786), and Syria (6,175).

Other notable asylum-seeking nationalities include Bangladesh (7,171), India (5,345), and Iraq (3,290). The growing number of applications signals a regional shift in migration patterns, with South Asian countries now dominating the list.
