Islamabad 3 August: On the directives of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the celebrations for Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day commenced across the province on Saturday, in a dignified and spirited manner.
The initiative aims to honor the nation’s heritage while engaging its younger generation in a meaningful way.
In a statement, CM Maryam Nawaz emphasized that this year’s festivities will prioritize active participation from youth and children, focusing on themes of national pride, traditional attire, and the significance of truth and freedom. She instructed the inclusion of special messages from children, national heroes, celebrities, and sports figures to be broadcast throughout the celebrations, fostering a sense of unity and inspiration.
The 2025 Independence Day, themed “From the Acquisition of Independence to the Protection of Independence,” commemorates Pakistan’s symbolic triumph in the “Battle of Truth, Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos.” The CM highlighted that the ongoing struggle for truth has redefined the value of freedom, adding depth to the festivities. Special events are scheduled across Punjab’s districts from August 1 to 14, with the main ceremony set for August 14 at Hazuri Bagh, where Maryam Nawaz will hoist the national flag.
