The Overall Large-Scale Manufacturing (LSM) sector has shown a growth of 0.54 percent during August 2025 when compared with the same month of last year, says the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).

The LSMI output decreased by 2.75 percent for August 2025 when compared with July 2025. During the first two months of the current fiscal year (FY26) i.e. July and August, the LSMI output rose by 4.44 percent over the previous year.

The provisional quantum indices of Large-Scale Manufacturing Industries (LSMI) for August 2025 with base year 2015-16 have been developed on the basis of latest data supplied by the source agencies i.e. OCAC, Ministry of Industries and Production, Ministry of Commerce and Provincial Bureau of Statistics (BoS).

The main contributors towards overall growth of 4.44% are Food (1.02), Tobacco (0.17), Textile (-0.03) Garments (0.84), Paper & Board (0.21), Petroleum Products (-0.21), Chemicals (-0.13), Pharmaceuticals (-0.11), Cement (0.98), Iron & Steel Products (-0.16), Electrical Equipment (0.08), Machinery and Equipment (-0.11), Automobiles (1.83), Other transport Equipment (0.23), and Furniture (-0.17).

The production in July-August 2025-26 as compared to July-August 2024-25 has increased in Food, Tobacco, wearing apparel, Non-Metallic Mineral Products, Electrical Equipment, Automobiles and Other Transport Equipment while it Decreased in Beverages, Textile, Chemical Products, Iron & Steel Products, Machinery and Equipment, and Furniture.
