Islamabad, Aug 1, 2025: Muzammil Kareem Paracha, a prominent Karachi-based businessman known for his luxury lifestyle and remarkable automotive collection, has sadly passed away after battling cancer for a prolonged period.
Paracha rose to national attention when he made headlines for acquiring the highly-coveted “A1” vehicle registration plate during Sindh’s historic premium number plate auction. The winning bid? An eye-watering Rs. 100 million, making it the most expensive number plate in Pakistan.
A seasoned entrepreneur with diversified investments, Paracha held stakes in several businesses and owned real estate assets worth hundreds of millions. Beyond business, he was deeply passionate about luxury and rare automobiles, a fact reflected in his impressive private collection of custom number plates.

The landmark auction was hosted by the Sindh Excise & Taxation Department at a luxury hotel in Karachi. The event was a major success, generating Rs. 675.4 million from the sale of just 40 exclusive number plates. Among the top bids, Plate No. 5 sold for Rs. 50.3 million, No. 7 fetched Rs. 40.6 million, while No. 8 and 9 went for Rs. 40.1 million and Rs. 40 million, respectively.
Another memorable highlight was the bidding war for the sacred number “786,” which eventually sold for Rs. 20.65 million. This plate was secured by businessman Sarosh and awarded by Sindh Local Government Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah.
