Islamabad 6 August: Pakistan’s transport services exports surged by 25.06% to $878.295 million during the first eleven months of the fiscal year 2024-25 (July-May), compared to $702.303 million in the same period of the previous fiscal year, according to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).

The robust growth underscores Pakistan’s strengthening position in global logistics and transport markets, driven by enhanced operational capacity and rising international demand.

According to news reports, sea transport exports grew modestly by 1.34%, rising from $100.952 million to $102.305 million, with freight services surging 60.56% from $53.787 million to $86.359 million.

However, other sea transport services declined sharply by 66.19%, falling from $47.165 million to $15.946 million. Air transport exports, the largest contributor, increased by 25.77% from $574.910 million to $723.079 million.

Within this sector, passenger services dipped by 4.01% to $392.999 million, while freight services soared by 140.89% to $27.065 million, and other air transport services jumped 96.45% to $303.014 million.

Road transport exports saw a significant 67.09% rise, climbing from $22.715 million to $37.955 million, with freight services up 42.70% to $5.230 million and other road services increasing by 71.79% to $32.725 million.

Postal and courier services exports recorded the highest growth, surging 301.39% from $3.725 million to $14.954 million, reflecting Pakistan’s expanding role in global logistics networks.

The growth aligns with broader economic trends, as Pakistan’s overall service exports rose by 9.85% to $6.24 billion in the first nine months of FY25, driven by transport and telecommunications sectors. However, challenges remain, including a 6.27% increase in the services trade deficit to $2.317 billion, fueled by higher transport and travel import costs.
