Islamabad, July 15, 2025: Pakistan has entered a new digital phase with the rollout of AI-powered passport printing machines that can produce up to 300 passports per hour, according to Director General of Passports, Mustafa Jamal Kazi.
Six modern machines, acquired in March 2025, are now fully operational and connected with NADRA’s national database. This integration aims to reduce processing delays, speed up delivery, and bring greater efficiency to the passport issuance system.
“These state-of-the-art machines are a game changer for applicants. People will no longer wait for weeks,” said Kazi. The new system marks a significant step toward digital transformation in Pakistan’s public service sector.
In a major policy update, the government has also started including the mother’s name on passports. The move is in line with international identity verification standards and improves passport authentication abroad.
