Islamabad, Feb 5: In a bid to facilitate citizens, passport offices in Lahore, Islamabad, and Karachi will remain open today, February 5, 2025, despite the public holiday observed on Kashmir Solidarity Day.
According to an official notification, these offices will operate 24/7, ensuring uninterrupted passport services for the public. In Lahore, the Garden Town passport office will remain functional, while in Islamabad, the G-10/4 office will continue its operations. Similarly, Karachi’s public facilitation center will also remain open, allowing citizens to process their passport applications without delays.
This initiative aims to ensure that people can access essential passport services without inconvenience, particularly those planning international travel or requiring urgent documentation.
Observance of Kashmir Solidarity Day Across Pakistan
Kashmir Solidarity Day is being observed nationwide today (Wednesday) to reaffirm Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Kashmiri people in their struggle for self-determination, as per UN resolutions.
As part of the observance, a public holiday has been declared across the country, with various events planned to highlight the Kashmir issue. Solidarity rallies and walks are being held in major cities, including Islamabad, Lahore, and Karachi, as well as in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK). A significant rally will take place on Constitution Avenue in Islamabad, drawing attention to the cause.

At exactly 10:00 AM, sirens will sound, and a one-minute silence will be observed nationwide to honor the martyrs of Kashmir. Billboards and posters have been strategically placed in prominent locations such as airports, railway stations, and major highways to shed light on the hardships faced by Kashmiris and expose human rights violations in the region.
In Muzaffarabad, the AJK Legislative Assembly is set to hold a special session to express solidarity with the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). Government officials, lawmakers, and activists will use the platform to condemn ongoing oppression and reaffirm Pakistan’s commitment to advocating for Kashmir’s right to self-determination.
The government’s decision to keep passport offices operational on this important day reflects its commitment to balancing essential public services while observing national solidarity efforts. Citizens are encouraged to participate in events and voice their support for Kashmir’s just cause.
