Islamabad, Jan 8: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has confirmed a change in the schedule and location for the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 10 Player Draft. Initially set for Gwadar, the event will now take place on Monday, 13 January, at the historic Huzoori Bagh, located within Lahore Fort. This rescheduling follows logistical challenges at the original venue. The Player Draft ceremony highlights PSL 10’s focus on showcasing heritage sites, enhancing the league’s grandeur.
The PSL Trophy Tour will continue to feature Gwadar, emphasizing the league’s connection to diverse regions of Pakistan. The tournament itself is scheduled to run from 8 April to 19 May 2024, with six franchises building their star-studded squads. On 4 January, the franchises revealed their retained players for the draft, with each allowed up to eight retentions. Karachi Kings, Multan Sultans, and Peshawar Zalmi retained seven players each.
Full retentions for PSL 10
Islamabad United: The Islamabad United franchise, led by Shadab Khan, has made notable retentions, including Naseem Shah as a Platinum player and Imad Wasim as a mentor. Their squad also features Azam Khan, Salman Ali Agha, Haider Ali, Colin Munro, and Rumman Raees.
Multan Sultans: Multan Sultans with Mohammad Rizwan and Usama Mir in the Platinum category, will be guided by mentor David Willey. The team has also secured Chris Jordan and Faisal Akram as valuable additions.
Peshawar Zalmi: Peshawar Zalmi has retained key players like Babar Azam and Saim Ayub in the Platinum category, with Mohammad Haris and emerging bowlers strengthening their lineup.
Quetta Gladiators: Quetta Gladiators have secured Mohammad Amir and Abrar Ahmed, alongside Rilee Rossouw and Akeal Hosein, providing balance to both their batting and bowling departments.
Karachi Kings: Karachi Kings have selected experienced players like Hasan Ali and James Vince.
Lahore Qalandars: Lahore Qalandars retain Shaheen Shah Afridi and Fakhar Zaman. The franchises have also appointed new Brand Ambassadors to enhance their appeal ahead of the highly anticipated season.
