The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has completely denied media reports about the change of leadership in ODI and Test teams. It has recently been reported that the board was in the process of considering another restructuring of both formats, however, the PCB said that this is not the case.

In an official release on Monday the PCB clarified that Mohammad Rizwan will still be the ODI captain and Shan Masood will continue to lead the Test team. Last weekend, Salman Ali Agha was tipped in as a competitor of Rizwan in ODIs and Saud Shakeel would be the next Test captain.

Such rumors have been gaining momentum in the recent times due to the poor and irregular performances by Pakistan leaving many to think that a shake-up was long overdue. Nonetheless, PCB pointed out that the issue of leadership has not been brought up in selection committee sessions. This statement, though, has a reservation, as the word, yet, is used, meaning that there might be further negotiations.

Critics note that this is not the first form of denial that the PCB has exercised. A similar notification has come when rumours about the dismissal of Jason Gillespie started spreading yet the coach ended up parting ways with the national set up.

Rizwan and Shan will continue with their duties as Pakistan prepare to engage in its next set of international matches. Just how long will they continue occupying these offices under the rising pressure by fans and analysts remains a question.

To sum up, it is possible to note that despite the denial of the PCB on the possible changes in the leadership of ODI and Test teams, the issue on the future leadership of the national side remains controversial.
