Islamabad, Mar 15 2025: A total of eight Pakistan cricketers have been fined a combined Rs 3 million for breaching the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) code of conduct.
The fines, imposed for various misconducts, come amid increased scrutiny of the national team’s performance in the 2025 Champions Trophy, where Pakistan failed to win a single match.
All-rounder Aamir Jamal received the largest fine, approximately PKR 1.3 million, for wearing a cap with a political slogan during an interview in October 2024.
This occurred during the first Test of Pakistan’s home series against England, and the PCB deemed his actions a breach of the code of conduct.
Additionally, three players were penalized PKR 500,000 each during the white-ball tour of the Men In Green to Australia in November 2024.
These players were fined for arriving late at the team hotel, which is a clear violation of team protocols.
During Pakistan’s subsequent white-ball tour to South Africa, four more players—Salman Ali Agha, Saim Ayub, Abdullah Shafique, and Abbas Afridi—were fined for violating the team’s curfew rules.
The cricket authority has kept details of disciplinary matters private, citing the need to protect the reputation of national cricketers.
However, the fines have added to the pressure on the team, which is already under intense criticism after its disappointing performance in the Champions Trophy, where Pakistan’s hopes were dashed after losses to New Zealand and India, followed by a rain-affected match against Bangladesh.
