The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is dealing with one of the biggest critical aspects of Pakistan on the field of play following yet another dismal season in the game. There is hardly any patience among stakeholders as the men, women, and Shaheens teams lack stability and continue to waste opportunities.

The PCB departments – International Cricket, High Performance and Women Cricket made reports that pointed out the top management being the main problem and that frequent changes in the administration have hampered performance.

Within less than three years, Pakistan cricket has gone through four PCB chairmen and a constantly changing list of captains, coaches, and selectors. The number of changing leaders from Ramiz Raja, Najam Sethi, Zaka Ashraf to Mohsin Naqvi have caused confusions, not continuity. There has been appeal to Naqvi to stop the frequent changes that keep the teams in a state of flux.

Prior judgments, such as shortening Test series to two matches in 2021 have turned out to be counterproductive. Things have now changed as PCB is interested in resuming full-blown three match series in the run up to the next ICC cycle of the year 2027 to give the players a pressured experience. Pakistan Shaheens will encounter more serious opponents regularly, frequently with the senior team, and long-term appointment of captains, coaches and selectors are the key in stabilizing the performance.

Unless the PCB tend to this major factor, the slide of Pakistan on the fields will persist. Rebuilding uniformity and reinforcing structures are among the most overlooked factors that are essential to turn around the rut and secure long-term success of Pakistan cricket.
