Islamabad, Aug 28: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced that the mentors for the next Champions Cup will earn an impressive package of compensation worth Rs 1.5 crore spread over three years, with an annual payout of Rs 50 lakh. PCB recently launched a strategic strategy to improve talent development by selecting former cricket players to serve as mentors for the Champions Cup, the organization’s next domestic competition.
Misbah-ul-Haq, Saqlain Mushtaq, Sarfraz Ahmed, Waqar Younis, and Shoaib Malik are the mentors tasked with spotting and developing young cricket talent in Pakistan. Ten staff members a head coach, vice coach, manager, and other key positions will assist each Champions Cup team to guarantee all-around development and administration.
Pakistan is presently facing a scarcity of good spinners, and the PCB is hopeful that Saqlain Mushtaq’s experience would help fill this need. The board wants to boost the national team by using the expertise of these past players to develop and assist fresh talent that is found during the competition.
Waqar Younis, who recently left his post as the PCB chairman’s advisor, has accepted the mentor role since it provides freedom and a competitive salary without having to adhere to rigid office hours. In a same vein, Sarfaraz Ahmed is still available for selection should it be necessary and is dedicated to the national team. Shoaib Malik, who is still active in a number of competitions and hasn’t declared retirement, will also provide his squad with knowledge during the domestic event.
