Islamabad, Mar 17 2025: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has issued a legal notice to South African allrounder Corbin Bosch, citing a breach of contractual obligations.
The action follows the decision of Bosch to withdraw from the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 after signing with Mumbai Indians for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.
It is pertinent to mention here that this year marks the first instance of the PSL and IPL running concurrently.
The IPL runs from March 22 to May 25, overlapping with the PSL (April 11–May 18). Bosch, drafted by Peshawar Zalmi in January, joined Mumbai Indians on March 8, replacing Lizaad Williams.
Concerns have emerged among PSL franchises regarding the descion of Bosch , as they fear it could set a precedent for players prioritizing the IPL over PSL commitments.
Informal discussions have also raised the possibility of an outright ban on players who switch leagues after signing PSL contracts.
PCB confirmed that the legal notice had been served through Bosch’s agent. The board has asked the player to justify his withdrawal and has also highlighted the consequences of his decision.
A response has been requested within a specified time frame, though the exact deadline was not mentioned. The PCB also stated that no further comments would be made on the matter at this stage.
The PSL schedule was shifted to its current window to attract top overseas players, as the previous February-March slot clashed with SA20, ILT20, and the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).
There had been discussions about scheduling the PSL draft after the IPL auction to avoid availability conflicts, but the PSL draft eventually took place in January 2025, following the IPL auction in November 2024.
This season’s PSL draft saw major international players such as David Warner, Daryl Mitchell, Jason Holder, Rassie van der Dussen, and Kane Williamson sign up for the tournament.
