PCB’s coaching committee has seen minimal involvement from its official members, with non-members leading interviews and raising transparency concerns.

The Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) recently formed Coaching Affairs Committee appears to be falling short of its intended purpose, as only one member has actively participated in interviews while non-members have stepped in to fill the gap.

The committee, announced in mid-July with the mandate to oversee coach recruitment and ensure transparency, was expected to streamline the process through a structured approach. However, insiders reveal that instead of collective participation, interviews have largely been carried out by a single official, joined by staff who were never formally included in the body.

The group has already conducted sessions in Karachi and is continuing the process in Rawalpindi, with additional local officials assisting informally. This has raised concerns over whether the committee’s work is aligned with its stated objectives and whether its decisions will carry the credibility initially promised.

When the committee was unveiled, PCB had emphasized its role in promoting professionalism, compliance, and long-term development within the National Cricket Academy’s framework. The minimal involvement of its actual members, however, suggests that the board’s vision of a transparent and systematic process has yet to materialize.
