The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab has issued a flood alert after water flow in the Sutlej River crossed the one-million mark. The highest water level was recorded near Ganda Singh Wala at a station height of 210 meters.
According to the latest reading at 07:00 AM on 22 August, the river’s outflow reached 101,395 cusecs, placing it in the medium flood category. Residents living near low-lying areas along the Sutlej have been warned to remain cautious.
The PDMA has instructed local administration, rescue teams, and disaster management authorities to remain on high alert and ensure immediate safety measures. Citizens are advised to avoid unnecessary movement near the riverbanks and follow official guidelines.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has directed concerned departments to stay vigilant and provide full assistance to affected areas if required. The government has emphasized the importance of preparedness and safety as heavy water inflow continues.
