Islamabad, Apr 8, 2025: The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab has issued detailed instructions to various provincial departments in response to increasing heatwave risks.
These guidelines follow predictions indicating that temperatures could rise by 4 to 7 degrees Celsius this month.
The Director General of PDMA stated that major cities, plains, and areas in South Punjab are expected to experience severe heat.
He has instructed district administrations to remain vigilant and be prepared for any emergency situations.
Deputy commissioners have been instructed to ensure the provision of heatwave protective measures in public spaces.

The PDMA has also recommended using various media platforms, including print, electronic, and social media, to inform the public about the dangers posed by the heatwave.
As a precautionary measure, the School Education Department has been ordered to suspend outdoor activities for children during the hottest parts of the day.
Farmers are to be educated on how the heatwave might affect crops, while awareness posters are to be displayed at bus stations and train terminals.
The Health Department has been instructed to set up heatwave assistance counters in hospitals.
Citizens are encouraged to wear head coverings while outside and drink plenty of fluids to prevent heat-related illnesses.
