The Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued critical instructions to stop tourist visits to Murree and Galyat from August 17 to 19, amid mounting concerns over stormy monsoon rains and the risk of landslides and cloudbursts.
Importantly, formal communication has been issued to the Secretary for Tourism, the Rawalpindi Commissioner, and the Deputy Commissioner of Murree, urging coordinated preparations and enhanced readiness
PDMA has placed the district administration of Murree and traffic police on high alert, emphasizing the continuous monitoring of tourist inflow and traffic management in vulnerable areas.

Tourists have been strongly advised to avoid unnecessary travel to hilly regions, particularly due to the threats posed by flash floods, cloudbursts, and land instability.
Additionally, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has directed authorities to stay on high alert across the province. She emphasized preemptive measures—including enhanced police patrolling, the deployment of rescue services, and strict enforcement of safety guidelines in Murree, Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Chakwal, and the mountainous regions.
