Its efforts go beyond ushering in sustainable farming practices to include supporting women farmers, the development of inclusive communities, and the promotion of economic growth.
The event’s main topic of discussion was PepsiCo Pakistan’s programs to help female farmers and create inclusive communities. The She Feeds the World (SfTW) program, a global project that aims to enhance food security and nutrition for rural households, is one of the pillars of PepsiCo Pakistan’s social impact strategy.
SfTW has touched more than 170,000 community members in Pakistan. Through instruction in sustainable agriculture, financial literacy, and leadership development, the program empowers women.Partner smallholder farmer Anila Begum from Gilgit Baltistan talked about her experience and how the company’s actions have affected her community. She underlined the significance of providing farmers with the resources and information they need to increase agricultural productivity and support the food security of the country.
The dedication of PepsiCo Pakistan to gender equality goes beyond its initiatives. Additionally, it actively works to increase farmers’ capacity. Over 35,000 acres of land, 50,000 farming families have received instruction in contemporary agricultural techniques, such as the use of impact recording devices and precision planters.
The organization is improving soil health and conserving water because it understands how important education and skill development are. It is tending to the land and increasing its productivity by using techniques like crop rotation and green manuring.
PepsiCo is also implementing high-efficiency irrigation systems and switching from conventional water pumps to solar-powered ones in order to reduce water use and open up a more sustainable value chain. The company collaborates closely with farmers to better enhance farming operations by giving them access to real-time weather information via on-farm weather stations. Farmers may enhance resource efficiency and make well-informed decisions with the help of this data.
