The federal government is likely to allow an increase in prices of petroleum products at the upcoming fortnightly review.

According to sources, prices may rise by up to Rs. 4.79 per liter for the next 15 days. High-speed diesel is expected to see the steepest jump of Rs. 4.79 per liter, while petrol could rise by Rs. 1.54 per liter.

The price of kerosene oil may go up by Rs. 3.06 per liter, and light diesel by Rs. 3.68 per liter, sources added.

If approved by the government, petrol will increase from Rs. 264.61 to Rs. 266.15 per liter, while diesel will surge from Rs. 269.99 to Rs. 274.78 per liter. The final decision regarding prices will be announced late on Monday.
