Islamabad, Apr 7, 2025: After years of delays, disputes, and uncertainty, Pakistan football may finally be heading towards stability.

The long-awaited elections of the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) are scheduled to take place on May 20, marking what could be the beginning of a new chapter for the sport in the country.

The announcement was made by the FIFA-appointed Normalisation Committee (NC), which has been running PFF affairs since 2019.

The NC confirmed that the PFF Elective Congress will meet in May to elect a new executive committee responsible for guiding the future of football in Pakistan.

The election process begins today (Monday), with candidates now able to file their nominations for various roles within the PFF’s leadership.

As per the timeline released by the NC, candidates will have ten days to submit their paperwork, followed by a seven-day scrutiny period.

Any objections can be raised within four days after scrutiny, and decisions on those appeals will be made within the following two days.

A final list of eligible candidates will be announced on April 30. From that point, nominees will have 19 days to campaign before the vote is held on May 20.

The confirmation of an election date offers long-awaited clarity after more than five years of administrative turmoil.

Since the Normalisation Committee was appointed, it has operated under four different leaderships and faced multiple setbacks, including FIFA suspensions.

Despite the challenges, the announcement has raised cautious optimism within Pakistan’s football community.

While elections alone may not resolve all of the sport’s structural issues, they are seen as an essential first step toward rebuilding a proper governance system.

With the countdown now underway, all eyes will be on the candidates and the direction they promise to take—hoping this vote marks the start of genuine reform in Pakistan football.
