Islamabad, June 20, 2025: The Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) has initiated a beautification drive for Murree Road, concentrating on the restoration of metro columns between Faizabad and Saddar. This initiative, valued at Rs. 160 million, is set aside for completion by the conclusion of next month.
As per PHA Director General Ahmed Hassan Ranjha, work on 22 out of 226 columns has already been finalized, with the segment up to Chandani Chowk expected to be wrapped up by the end of June.
He stated that Karachi Sand has been utilized in the renovation process, which will help maintain the structure’s look for more than ten years.
To enhance the night-time scenery, warm lighting will be installed. Ranjha mentioned that unattractive advertisements previously placed on the columns have been eliminated, while the green strips along the route are also being upgraded. He further shared that the entryway to Rawalpindi from Islamabad will undergo beautification drive as well.

In the next fiscal year, PHA intends to exhibit Quranic verses on urban columns and construct a monument inscribed with Durood Sharif on Rawal Road. Other planned ventures include the plantation of 75,000 saplings along the Rawalpindi Ring Road and enlarging the Gorakhpur Nursery.

PHA is also advancing various leisure and beautification schemes in Murree and Rawalpindi to foster a cleaner, healthier, and visually pleasing atmosphere.
