Islamabad, 13 June 2025: Iran Shuts Airspace, In light of mounting regional instability, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has revised multiple international flight paths, redirecting operations to key destinations such as Toronto, Paris, and countries in the Gulf region.
The measure follows heightened airspace restrictions over Iranian territory due to escalating hostilities involving Israel.
A senior spokesperson for PIA confirmed on Friday that the airline has taken proactive steps to reroute flights to ensure both safety and service continuity.

Gulf-bound services, including those headed to Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and the United Arab Emirates, are now flying through Omani-controlled skies, bypassing Iranian airspace altogether.

The spokesperson explained that passenger safety remains the top priority, and adapting to evolving airspace constraints is critical to maintaining uninterrupted connectivity.
Long-haul flights to North America and Europe have also been impacted. PIA’s services to Toronto and Paris have been rerouted through alternate paths that rely on Oman’s air navigation oversight, reflecting a broader reconfiguration of the airline’s international network.
