In response to allegations that its country manager in Bahrain had taken luggage belonging to passengers, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has provided clarification on the matter. According to the Pakistani embassy in Bahrain, there was a miscommunication involved in the event.
According to a PIA representative, the airline does not maintain an office in Bahrain Airport. As a result, unclaimed luggage are moved to the city’s PIA central office. After that, the owners of these bags receive them.
The spokeswoman clarified that the problem stemmed from the absence of an office at the airport and that there was no illegal intent involved. Senior officers have been assigned to defend the matter in court as part of PIA’s request for legal assistance from the Pakistani embassy on behalf of the impacted officer.
It should be mentioned that Awais Hanif, the country manager for PIA, was detained in Bahrain on suspicion of stealing bags from passengers. The spokesperson promised to give the detained national manager all the legal support he could get. It’s crucial to remember that stealing items from travelers is forbidden by Bahraini airport regulations.
