Islamabad, Aug 1, 2025: Gwadar’s air connectivity is getting a major boost as Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) announces the addition of two new flights to the port city. This initiative aims to support economic development and strengthen the logistical backbone of the region, marking a significant move toward realizing Gwadar’s potential as a thriving commercial hub.

The new Karachi-Gwadar flight operations are set to begin in the first week of August, according to Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs, Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry. The expansion increases weekly flights to Gwadar, providing much-needed ease of travel for the business community, port workers, and government personnel.

Speaking about the initiative, Minister Chaudhry emphasized that reliable and frequent air travel is essential to accelerate trade, investment, and infrastructure development in Gwadar. He linked the move to the Prime Minister’s pro-business strategy, aimed at transforming Gwadar into a central player in the national and regional economy.

“This expansion is not just about flights—it’s about unlocking Gwadar’s full economic potential,” the minister stated. “Enhanced air connectivity ensures smoother coordination of CPEC-related projects and makes it easier for investors and stakeholders to engage with ongoing development.”

He also highlighted that the increase in Gwadar flight operations is a strategic step to ensure timely execution of China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) initiatives, particularly in the Gwadar Free Zones. These areas are positioned to become key drivers of trade and logistics in the region.
