Islamabad, Sep 24: The bidding process for Pakistan International Airlines’ (PIA) privatization is scheduled to begin on October 1, according to information provided to the National Assembly Standing Committee on Privatization on Tuesday.
Farooq Sattar, a legislator and the committee’s chairman, made the statement during the meeting.The congressman said that PIA will be the first state-owned company to be privatized under the existing structure, and that six corporations will participate in the bidding process for the national flag carrier.
The head of the committee promised that the committee’s primary focus will always be the rights of the airline employees. The committee was advised by representatives of the Privatization Commission that the airline will maintain its current name following privatization.
