At an event honoring World Tourism Day, Air Vice Marshal Amir Hayat, CEO of PIA, received the award.

In a different occasion, mechanical difficulties caused a PIA flight from Muscat to Peshawar to make an emergency landing in Karachi. Details indicate that at 5:22 AM, flight PK 260 took off from Muscat; however, about half an hour after takeoff, there was a hydraulic system breakdown.
According to sources, the airplane dropped quickly in less than seven minutes, from 36,000 feet to 8,000 feet. The pilot kept the aircraft at a lower altitude and reported an emergency, diverting to Karachi. At 7:08 AM, the aircraft touched down at Karachi Airport safely, guaranteeing the security of all occupants, including the crew.
