Islamabad, Sep 4: The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has sent an urgent advice to pilots operating at Islamabad International Airport, advising them to exercise extra caution during landing and takeoff, in light of the continuing monsoon rains.
Concerns over the possible risks of slick runways are the reason for this direction, especially on Runway No. 18L, which has been impacted by the intense rains.The advice emphasizes how important it is to exercise caution when flying because the region’s erratic weather has made it more likely for aircraft to skid on wet terrain.
The advisory from the CAA comes after several days of severe monsoon rains that brought with them heavy rainfall and strong winds to Islamabad and other parts of Punjab.
Apart from Islamabad, other major towns in Punjab have also been affected by the monsoon showers. These cities include Rawalpindi and Lahore, where suburbs like Shadman, Gulberg, and Model Town have received substantial rainfall, offering much-needed respite from the summer heat.
There have been reports of severe rain in places like Kanganpur and its environs, as well as in Gujrat and Kasur.Meanwhile, Azad Kashmir has also experienced its fair share of monsoon, with significant rainfall recorded in places like Dadyal, Chakswari, and Mangla.
