Islamabad, Aug 13, 2025: Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif has announced that 100,000 free laptops will be given to talented students across Pakistan strictly on merit.

Speaking at an International Youth Day event in Islamabad, he said the initiative will reward high-achieving students purely based on academic performance, ensuring transparency in the distribution process.

The laptops will be distributed across all provinces, Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir. Shehbaz Sharif also urged the youth to channel the spirit of national pride, referring to Pakistan’s victory in Operation Bunyanum Marsoos on May 10, and to work for excellence in education and technology.

Chairman PM Youth Programme Rana Mashhood Khan recalled that Pakistan’s first youth policy, launched by Shehbaz Sharif in 2011, provided laptops, loans, and scholarships to Punjab students through the Punjab Educational Endowment Fund, now expanded into the Pakistan Education Endowment Fund.
