Islamabad: April 09: Pakistan decides to send high-level delegation to promote trade relations with US and hold talks on new tariffs. 

On the Prime Minister’s instructions, the delegation also includes prominent business figures and exporters.

The delegation was tasked by the Prime Minister to formulate a mutually beneficial course of action for the future after the negotiations on the new tariffs imposed by the US on imports.

A review meeting on increasing the country’s exports and the new tariffs imposed by the US was held in Islamabad today under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif.

Prime Minister in the meeting, said that US-Pakistan trade relations span decades. The government is keen to further strengthen its trade partnership with the US in future.

Prime Minister was presented with the report of the Steering Committee and Working Group on the new tariffs imposed by the US and the proposed future course of action.

The meeting was presented with various alternative courses of action. Prime Minister was informed that the Pakistani Embassy in the US is in constant contact with the US government.

Prime Minister directed to ensure the participation of prominent business figures and exporters while forming a delegation for negotiations with the US in this regard.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Federal Ministers Ahad Khan Cheema, Muhammad Aurangzeb, Ali Pervaiz Malik, Advisor to the Prime Minister Syed Tauqeer Shah, Special Assistants Tariq Fatemi, Haroon Akhtar, Coordinator to the Prime Minister Rana Ehsan Afzal and relevant senior officials.
