Islamabad, July 17, 2025: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in a top-level meeting in Islamabad on Thursday review plans and agri-financing for the country’s agricultural development, , with special attention on helping small and mid-scale farmers.
During the session, the Prime Minister told officials to create a full action plan by the end of the month for giving loans to farmers on easy conditions.
He especially instructed that help be given to those who own less than 12 acres of land. This includes giving them access to modern farming machines, artificial intelligence tools, and good-quality seeds.
He pointed out that Pakistan’s economic progress depends a lot on improving agriculture through better products and growth of farmers. The Prime Minister also asked for a plan that allows farmers access to small-scale industrial machinery to process their produce into export-grade commodities.

Changes are also being made to offer advanced farming tools, better water management, and support for setting up small farm-related businesses. These steps are meant to grow agriculture exports and include small farmers in the main economy.
Officials gave an update during the meeting on current changes in the farming system and shared details about the Agricultural Development Bank’s work and its present loan support to farmers.
