Islamabad, Dec 27: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has formed a special cabinet committee tasked with making key decisions regarding agricultural commodities in Pakistan. The committee, chaired by the Prime Minister, consists of eight key members, including the Deputy Prime Minister, Finance Minister, Planning Minister, and Ministers for Economic Affairs, National Food Security, Industries and Production, and Commerce.
The committee’s primary responsibility will be to review production estimates for major crops such as wheat, rice, cotton, sugarcane, edible oil, and corn. The committee will focus on ensuring sufficient cultivation areas for these crops and fostering better coordination at the national level. Additionally, the integration of federal and provincial agricultural research systems will be prioritized to boost crop production across the country.

The committee may also invite chief ministers or their representatives for special participation in meetings, enhancing the collaboration between federal and provincial governments on agricultural matters.
