Islamabad, Mar 23, 2025: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif chaired a high-level meeting on Saturday to assess the performance of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) following his return from Saudi Arabia.
He commended the tax authorities for swiftly recovering Rs. 34.5 billion and acknowledged the contributions of key government officials and departments in achieving this milestone.
During the session, the Prime Minister extended his gratitude to Minister for Law and Justice Azam Nazir Tarar, Minister for Finance Muhammad Aurangzeb, Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Khan Cheema, FBR Chairman Rashid Mahmood Langrial, and senior officials from the Intelligence Bureau and Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) for their efforts
While recognizing the significance of this recovery, he stressed that it was just the beginning and called for even greater improvements.

Shehbaz Sharif issued a stern warning against corrupt practices, instructing strict action against any FBR officials involved in embezzlement or misconduct.
Simultaneously, he emphasized the importance of rewarding high-performing employees to motivate efficiency within the department.
“The only way to reshape Pakistan’s financial future is through permanent and effective changes in the system,” he stated, reaffirming his commitment to tax reforms and economic resilience.
