Islamabad, Nov 19: On Tuesday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif highlighted the importance of cooperation between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia across various sectors and expressed his satisfaction with the successful implementation of the recently signed bilateral MoUs, which secured a $2.8 billion Saudi investment in Pakistan.
This discussion took place during a courtesy visit by the Deputy Interior Minister of Saudi Arabia, who is currently in Pakistan on an official visit, according to a press release from the Prime Minister’s Office.
Recalling the long-standing and brotherly ties between the two nations, Prime Minister Shehbaz thanked the Saudi leadership for their continued support to Pakistan. He emphasized the ongoing efforts to further strengthen bilateral relations, particularly in the realms of economic cooperation and investment.
The Prime Minister extended a warm welcome to the Saudi Deputy Interior Minister and wished him a successful visit, also conveying his greetings to Saudi King Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
Regarding the situation in Gaza and the broader Middle East, Prime Minister Shehbaz praised Saudi Arabia’s leadership, especially during the recent Arab-Islamic Summit in Riyadh. He commended Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s stance on Palestine and his efforts in unifying the Muslim community to seek an end to violence in Gaza resulting from Israel’s actions.
Emphasizing the importance of collaboration in defense and security, the Prime Minister expressed hope that the visit would enhance cooperation in these sectors. He also reiterated his invitation to Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to visit Pakistan at his earliest convenience, with the people of Pakistan eagerly awaiting to extend a warm welcome.
