Islamabad, Mar 13, 2025: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has emphasized the need for a well-structured plan to enhance trade relations between Pakistan and Uzbekistan, with the objective of reaching a $2 billion trade volume as agreed upon by both nations’ leadership.
In a meeting with Uzbekistan’s Ambassador Alisher Tukhtaev, PM Shehbaz reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to deepening cooperation across various sectors, including mining, railways, Special Economic Zones, banking, tourism, culture, and renewable energy.
He highlighted Pakistan’s enthusiasm for fostering a long-term partnership in these fields.
The prime minister also extended warm regards to Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and expressed gratitude for the warm welcome he received during his recent visit to Tashkent.
He conveyed his satisfaction with the significant progress achieved between the two nations, including the establishment of a High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council and the signing of multiple agreements and Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) in key sectors.

PM Shehbaz informed the envoy that, following his return from Uzbekistan, he had directed relevant ministries to ensure the swift implementation of the agreements and decisions made during his visit.
This proactive approach aims to accelerate economic collaboration between the two countries.
Ambassador Tukhtaev assured the prime minister of Uzbekistan’s strong commitment to strengthening ties with Pakistan.
He emphasized President Mirziyoyev’s dedication to transforming the robust political relations between the two nations into dynamic economic partnerships.
He further revealed that President Mirziyoyev had accepted an invitation to visit Pakistan later this year, with both sides set to finalize the visit’s dates soon.
Earlier, PM Shehbaz undertook an official trip to Uzbekistan, where both countries pledged to elevate their trade volume from $400 million to $2 billion.
The leaders also agreed to explore vast opportunities in investment, connectivity, and tourism to enhance economic cooperation.
During a high-level meeting between President Mirziyoyev and PM Shehbaz, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to advancing the Trans-Afghan Railway project.
This ambitious initiative aims to link Central Asia with South Asia and is expected to transform regional trade and connectivity.
With these developments, Pakistan and Uzbekistan are strengthening their economic collaboration, opening new avenues for mutual growth and prosperity.
