Islamabad, May 25, 2025: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has kicked off a critical diplomatic mission across four key nations Türkiye, Iran, Azerbaijan, and Tajikistan in a bid to bolster Pakistan’s regional ties and international standing.
The multi-nation tour, which runs through May 30, highlights Islamabad’s efforts to deepen cooperation with countries that have consistently stood by Pakistan during times of geopolitical strain, especially during heightened tensions with India.
This diplomatic journey is not just ceremonial; it comes at a time when Pakistan is looking to expand its foreign policy outreach.
According to the Foreign Office, PM Shehbaz will use these high-level meetings to thank the leadership of these friendly countries for their unwavering support and to hold in-depth discussions on enhancing bilateral cooperation.
Regional security, economic partnerships, and global developments are expected to dominate the agenda.
One of the highlights of the tour will be PM Shehbaz’s participation in a major international conference on glaciers, scheduled for May 29–30 in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.
With climate change becoming a pressing issue for South Asia, especially for glacier-dependent nations like Pakistan, the Prime Minister’s presence underscores Islamabad’s growing focus on environmental diplomacy.
In parallel diplomacy, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar also engaged in a telephonic discussion with Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister.
