Islamabad, Aug 26: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif established a one-month timetable for all government departments to transition to an electronic office system.
Within a month, the premier directed all relevant authorities to make sure that the e-office system is implemented in every government office. He issued a warning, saying that going forward, there would be no room for delays in the shift to paperless office work and that all file work would need to be done electronically beginning next month.
The transition to e-office, he continued, is essential for boosting governance and transparency. Within two weeks, a status update on the system’s introduction is anticipated.
Shehbaz added that financial aid meant for staff members impacted by the Pak Public Works Department’s (PakPWD) closure would not be extended to unscrupulous individuals. He gave the instruction to expedite and present the plan as soon as possible, giving provincial authorities and relevant departments control over existing PakPWD projects.
The premier also directed that the cabinet receive the final recommendations about the closing of PakPWD. In order to re-employ people with short employment histories in PakPWD, he supported an age reduction proposal.
